Presentation of the Mahzor, ca. 1250 at Art Cabinet
From the 12th of January through the 3rd of March 2019, the Amsterdam Mahzor is on display at the Jewish Historical Museum's Art Cabinet. This illustrated mediaeval prayer book, dating from around 1250, was acquired by the Jewish Cultural Quarter in 2017, together with the LVR-Jüdisches Museum im Archäologischen Quartier in Cologne. It contains prayers and chants for various holidays and special Shabbat celebrations. This presentation is a smaller version of the large exhibition that will be in display in Septemer of 2019 at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne.
This exhibition is on display at the Jewish Historical Museum (JHM) in Amsterdam. Address: Nieuwe Amstelstraat 1, 1011PL, Amsterdam. The JHM is located in the former synagogue complex of the Ashkenazi Jewish community in Amsterdam.
