Ida Kleiterp

On 6 October, the Jewish Museum presents an exhibition by artist Ida M. Kleiterp (b. 1948, Beverwijk). The Jewish concept of tikun olam, our obligation to heal the world and to improve it, has been the foundation for her life and work.

Kleiterp recently gave fourteen of her art books to the Jewish Museum. These are all on show in the exhibition alongside various sculptures.

Identity

In her work, Kleiterp explores aspects of her identity. Recurring themes include ‘house’, ‘being a woman’ and ‘Jewish identity’. Inspired by ancient cultures and nature, she had created numerous works in series that she describes as families, or tribes.
